• Georgia Maintains Low Unemployment Rate for the Seventh Consecutive Month

  Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson announced today that Georgia's February unemployment rate was 3.1 percent, unchanged from a revised 3.1 percent in January. The unemployment rate has held at 3.1 percent for seven consecutive months and was five-tenths lower than the national unemployment rate of 3.6 percent.

The study analyzed eight factors including new firm survival rates, corporate tax rates, and the number of entrepreneurs per state to determine the viability of starting a small business in each state.

• St. Mary’s Health Care System Names New President and CEO

  St. Mary’s Health Care System and Trinity Health have named Stonish Pierce, FACHE, as President and CEO of Trinity Health Georgia Region, which includes St. Mary’s Heath Care System and Mercy Care in Atlanta, effective April 24. Pierce comes to Trinity Health Georgia from Holy Cross Health in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he has served as the chief operating officer since January 2021.
