St. Mary’s to Break Ground July 20th for Good Samaritan Pavilion
Wednesday, July 1st, 2026

St. Mary’s Health Care System is excited to invite the community to a groundbreaking ceremony for the new, $45.6-million St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Pavilion on Monday, July 20, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be held on the hospital campus at 5401 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro.
“This new Pavilion is a tremendous investment in expanding access to care and strengthening our ability to serve Greene County and the Lake Country for years to come,” said Stonish Pierce, President and CEO of Trinity Health Georgia, which includes St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital.
“We are excited to invite the community to join us as we celebrate this exciting expansion of St. Mary’s high-quality care, higher-quality caring right here, close to home for everyone in the greater Greensboro and Lake Oconee region,” Pierce said.
In addition to the ceremonial groundbreaking, the event will include food from Holcomb’s Barbeque, fun activities, giveaways, a brief program, networking opportunities, and more. The ceremony is free and all are welcome. Parking will be available on the hospital grounds and valet shuttle service will be provided. No RSVPs are required.
The groundbreaking closely follows the public launch of a major fundraising campaign that will maximize the services and technology available at the Pavilion, noted Russ Dawson, Chair of the St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Foundation.
“Our goal of raising $10 million is about much more than a building,” Dawson said. “It’s about our community coming together to invest in the health and well-being of our families, friends and neighbors. Every gift helps ensure that people throughout Greene County and the Lake Oconee region can receive exceptional care close to home for years to come.”
The 42,000-square-foot facility will attach to the south end of the existing hospital. Highlights will include primary care; provider offices; various specialty services; expanded infusion, outpatient rehabilitation and imaging services; pharmacy and laboratory services, as well as a community education and conference center.
Initial site grading began recently and the Pavilion is expected to open in fall 2027. All current inpatient, outpatient and emergency services at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital will continue without interruption while construction is in progress.
