Timothy Road Elementary Named Title I Reward School

Timothy Road Elementary School has been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education for being among the Title I schools in the state making the most significant strides in overall student achievement.
GaDOE last week released its 2023-24 lists of Title I Distinguished and Reward Schools based on Georgia Milestones Assessment System testing data from the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years, and Timothy Road was named a Title I Reward School. Distinguished Schools are among the highest-performing 5% of Title I Schoolwide and Title I Targeted Assistance schools, based on the combined English language arts and math Content Mastery scores from the statewide assessments in 2022-23. Reward Schools are among the greatest-improving 5% of Title I Schoolwide and Title I Targeted Assistance schools when comparing the Content Mastery scores from the 2021-22 and 2022-23 statewide assessments.
Content Mastery at the elementary school level addresses whether students are achieving at the pace necessary to be prepared for the next grade based on student performance on the Georgia Milestones, which is administered to students in grades 3-8. Content Mastery is also one of the four components that factor into an elementary school’s score on the College and Career Ready Performance Index, Georgia’s statewide accountability system for K-12 public schools.
Timothy Road showed a nearly 12-point gain on its overall Content Mastery score from 2021-22 to 2022-23, improving from 67.7 to 79.3 to make the Title I Reward Schools list. This included an overall math Content Mastery score of 87.8 and an overall ELA Content Mastery score of 79.6. The school also saw its overall Content Mastery score increase again during the 2023-24 school year to 80.4.
“I am incredibly proud of the students, staff, and leadership at Timothy Road Elementary for their remarkable achievement,” said Dr. Jennifer Scott, CCSD’s Deputy Superintendent of Academics and Student Support. “This recognition as a Title I Reward School highlights their commitment to academic excellence and their dedication to ensuring every student reaches their full potential.”
Schools must be Title I to be eligible for the Distinguished and Reward designations and must not currently be identified as being in need of additional state support for improvement. In CCSD, all 21 elementary, middle, and high schools are designated Title I — based on their percentage of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch according to their household income — and receive federal funding to help ensure that all children, particularly those who are most academically at-risk, meet challenging state academic standards.
