Dr. Priscilla Biney joins St. Mary's Internal Medicine Associates

 Dr. Priscilla Biney, a board-certified primary care physician with ties to the Athens area, has joined St. Mary’s Internal Medicine Associates (SIMA) and is now accepting new patient appointments, with same-day or next-day appointments available in many cases. 

Dr. Biney comes to SIMA from the Piedmont Athens Regional Graduate Medical Education program, where she practiced as an academic hospitalist from August 2022 until December 2024, and from the Medical College of Georgia-Southwest Campus Department of Medicine, where she served as a clinical assistant professor from June 2020 until December 2024.

Her previous appointments and employment include practicing as a hospitalist with Phoebe Putney Physicians Group in Albany, Ga., as a plastic surgeon at Korle bu Teaching Hospital at Accra, Ghana, as a general surgeon at Catholic Hospital, Battor in Ghana’s Volta Region, and as Medical Officer and Senior House Officer at La General Hospital, in Accra.

Dr. Biney earned her medical degree from the University of Ghana Medical School in 2006, then served her residency with Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Department of Surgery. She continued her education at the West African College of Surgeons as Senior Resident in plastic surgery. She then matched into the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center before receiving her Board certification in Internal Medicine and entering clinical practice. She became a Fellow in the American College of Physicians in 2023.

Dr. Biney provides a full scope of adult outpatient care. As part of the physician team at SIMA, she works to create relationships with patients that promote trust and open communication, whether the patient has an ordinary cold or a complex chronic condition. SIMA physicians provide wellness and routine sick care for adults age 18 and over, including ordering tests, diagnosing problems, prescribing medication and referring patients to secialists when needed.

St. Mary’s Internal Medicine Associates is located at 2470 Daniells Bridge Road, Bldg. 200, Suite 231, Athens, inside The Exchange near Loop 10 and the Oconee Connector. Dr. Biney sees patients in SIMA’s expansion space, located next door in Building 300 of The Exchange.

As part of St. Mary's Medical Group, SIMA accepts most major insurance plans, Medicare, and Georgia Medicaid products. The practice offers virtual visits for certain provider appointments.
