ACCGov Services & Facilities Schedule Changes for the MLK Day Holiday

Animal Services

  • Adoption Center

    • Mon., Jan. 20 - Closed.

    • Tue., Jan. 21 - Resume regular hours of operation.

  • Field Services

    • Mon., Jan. 20 - Emergency on-call only. Emergency on-call services - such as an animal bite, a seriously sick or injured animal, or an animal trapped inside a living space of a home - will be provided throughout the holiday by calling 911.

    • Tue., Jan. 21 - Resume regular field services.

Leisure Services

  • Facilities

    • Mon., Jan. 20 - Closed.

    • Tue., Jan. 21 - Resume regular hours of operation.

  • Parks

    • Mon., Jan. 20 - Reduced hours of 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM except for Sandy Creek Park, which is closed on Mondays.

    • Tue., Jan. 21 - Resume regular hours of operation.

Solid Waste

  • Residential and commercial (outside the Downtown district) garbage and recycling collected by the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will not be collected on Mon., Jan. 20. Garbage and recycling will be collected on the following schedule:

    • Regular Monday customers will be collected on Tue., Jan. 21.

    • Regular Tuesday customers will be collected on Wed., Jan. 22.

    • Regular Wednesday customers will be collected on Thurs., Jan. 23.

    • Regular Thursday customers will be collected on Fri., Jan. 24.

  • Residential and commercial (inside the Downtown district) garbage and recycling will be collected as regularly scheduled.

  • Leaf & Limb will be collected Tue., Jan 21 - Fri., Jan. 24 in Area B.

  • The Landfill will be closed on Mon., Jan. 20, resuming regular hours on Tue., Jan. 21.

  • The CHaRM is closed on Mondays. It will be open as regularly scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

  • The Materials Recycling Facility will be open on Mon., Jan. 20.

  • Solid Waste offices will be closed on Mon., Jan. 20, resuming regular hours on Tue., Jan. 21.
