Athens Academy Senior Wins Prestigious Art Award

Senior Mae Kline recently received a Gold Key Scholastic Art Award for her painting Miss Marlo. The award is presented by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program, the longest-running, most prestigious educational initiative supporting student achievement in the visual and literary arts in the United States. In addition, sophomore Katie Scott received Honorable Mention from the Scholastic Art Awards for her drawing Unc.
Mae is the daughter of Gregory and Mary Kline of Athens. She is currently working with teacher Luke Graves in Athens Academy’s honors-level Senior Portfolio class. Mae is the vice president of the Environmental Club and is in her fourth year as a member of the Honor Council.
Katie is the daughter of Trey and Anna Scott of Athens.
The Gold Key award is part of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Program and is presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers as part of its annual contest. According to their website, their mission is to “identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.”
