State Farm Ranks Georgia 2nd in Nation for Paid Wind Claims

Georgia homeowners have good reason to pay attention to Severe Weather Awareness Month. State Farm, Georgia’s largest home insurer, says the state remains one of the most active states for wind and tornado damage. New claims data shows State Farm paid over 11,000 wind and tornado claims on structures around the state in 2015 putting the state in 2nd place nationally.

Texas narrowly edged Georgia for the top spot and all of Georgia’s neighbors made the top 10 list:

In addition to stocking up on emergency supplies and developing a plan, State Farm also reminds Georgia homeowners to take a home inventory and make sure your insurance policy is up to date. “There is a real risk of not having enough coverage to replace items you’ve accumulated throughout the years when a review of your policy has not taken place in a while,” says State Farm spokesman Justin Tomczak.
