Georgia Cyber Academy Now Accepting Enrollment for Students Seeking Online Education in 2016-2017 School Year
Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016
Georgia Cyber Academy, Georgia's largest accredited, full-time, online public charter school, welcomes families with students in grades K-12 to enroll for the 2016-2017 academic year. Open to all students who reside in Georgia, GCA combines online instruction, hands-on curriculum and the support of Georgia-licensed teachers to cultivate an individualized education for each student.
The school's curriculum is designed to let students discover and nurture their own learning style in order to ensure they achieve mastery of topics and skills. GCA gives advanced learners the ability to progress faster through subjects in which they excel, while students who need to spend more time in certain subject areas are able to do so. Teachers work closely with each student's parent or guardian to identify the best path for success.
"We enrolled our daughter at Georgia Cyber Academy for 6th grade, because we wanted her to be in a safe, healthy middle school environment," said Regina Howard, whose daughter is now a 7th grader at GCA, though working a grade ahead in Language Arts. "We've adjusted really well to the program. She gets up, logs in, and gets her work done. She's a very active community volunteer, so the more flexible nature of online school has helped her pursue extracurricular interests."
The interactive class sessions and online curriculum are rigorous and engaging, including courses in language arts/English, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as elective and Advanced Placement® courses for high school students. Hundreds of GCA students also take advantage of dual-enrollment classes at over 30 Georgia colleges and Universities.
Last year's graduating class was the largest in school history, with just under 500 students in the Class of 2015.
"Our curriculum and instruction may take place virtually, but GCA is a real strong statewide community united in the goal of giving our students the best education possible," said Matt Arkin, Head of School at Georgia Cyber Academy. "Our teachers and staff plan events for families to meet in person, plus we hold traditional school events like prom and graduation."
To help families learn more about the program, GCA will host information sessions and community events around the state, as well as several online information sessions. For details, visit the school website: http://gca.k12.com/
