Dr. Charles Peck has been appointed CEO and President of Athens Regional Health System effective March 15, 2015.  Dr.  Peck has been serving as Interim CEO since September 2014.  In December, the Board of Trustees appointed a CEO Steering Committee composed of physicians, nursing, administration, and board members, and engaged a national search firm to assist in the CEO selection process.

According to ARHS Vice Chairman of the Board, Jim Hopkins, “The CEO Steering Committee led a rigorous process resulting in a clear recommendation to hire Dr. Peck on a permanent basis, concluding with the Board of Trustees unanimous approval of Dr. Peck’s appointment.”

“The medical staff leadership has had the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Peck for the last 6 months and is pleased to see him appointed as the permanent CEO. We are very fortunate to have a physician executive with his knowledge, experience and skills join Athens Regional Health System,” said Dr. Carolanne Eisenhart, Emergency Department Medical Director and President of the Medical Staff at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Peck’s career has been highlighted by leadership spanning more than 30 years as a clinician, CEO, entrepreneur, medical school faculty member, medical director and partner in a worldwide healthcare consulting company.

Prior to serving Athens Regional as Interim CEO, Dr. Peck was as a managing director with an international firm, Navigant Consulting, focusing primarily on clinical and operational effectiveness, continuum of care management and performance improvement.

Prior to his work with Navigant, Dr. Peck served as president and CEO of Health Inventures, LLC, a surgical and physician services company providing ambulatory surgery center, surgical hospital, and physician practice management, perioperative performance improvement and anesthesia consulting.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Peck join us permanently as he has done an excellent job over the last six months as our Interim CEO.  His career as a well-respected physician with extensive healthcare leadership experience in a variety of national venues is an excellent fit for our healthcare system and the people we serve,” continued Hopkins.
