Calling all Farm Dogs! The 2025 Georgia Farm Dog Contest is now open, highlighting the essential roles farm dogs play in herding, guarding livestock, and providing companionship. Whitney Mooney, Georgia Farm Bureau’s Associate Director of Info/PR, describes how you can learn more and enter your favorite farm dog. Last year’s winner, Belue, a Shetland Sheepdog from Sumter County, was selected from over 150 entries and recognized at the Sunbelt Ag Expo.

Helene, the most devastating weather-related loss in Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance’s history, caused catastrophic damage across the state, generating over 10,600 claims in the first week alone. The challenges felt never-ending: homes were destroyed, roadways were inaccessible, and hundreds of people and businesses were dealing with extended power loss.
