The University of Georgia’s dedication to student innovation and experiential learning is celebrating a valuable partner in October. Studio 225, home of UGA’s Entrepreneurship Program and housed in the Terry College of Business, will be named the Mahoney Entrepreneurship Hub in honor of Mark S. Mahoney, recognizing his professional achievements and his continued investment in entrepreneurship education and experiential learning for UGA students from all academic disciplines.

Mahoney, a 1983 Terry College graduate, has pledged $3 million to support the college and its entrepreneurial initiatives. Located in downtown Athens, the Mahoney Entrepreneurship Hub anchors a campuswide effort to equip students with the tools, mentorship, and collaborative spaces necessary to develop new ventures. The facility includes meeting rooms, maker spaces, and flexible environments where students can refine ideas, build teams, and present to potential investors. A dedication ceremony to celebrate the naming takes place at the Mahoney Hub on Oct. 16 at 1:30 p.m.

For Mahoney, the investment is personal and forward-looking. He is a founding member of the Terry College Shareholders’ Society and a member of Terry’s Pinnacle Society. As a former member of Terry’s MIS Advisory Board and an active mentor to students and alumni, he has maintained close ties to the college since his undergraduate years. He credits those experiences with shaping his professional path and entrepreneurial mindset.

“I really enjoyed my time at Terry and have kept in touch with several of my professors over the years,” Mahoney said. “I’ve always valued the opportunity to help students kick off their careers, and I hope this initiative inspires more students to pursue entrepreneurship.”

Mahoney’s career reflects that same spirit. As co-founder and CEO of Jackrabbit Technologies, he has built a company providing cloud-based class management software to youth activity centers worldwide. What began as a solution to operational challenges in the gymnastics industry has grown into a multi-million-dollar enterprise serving thousands of clients across multiple sectors.

Under Mahoney’s leadership, the company has received multiple Bulldog 100 honors, which recognize the fastest-growing businesses owned or operated by UGA alumni. He was also the inaugural recipient of the Michael J. Bryan Award for entrepreneurial achievement, leadership, and impact. His leadership has earned recognition, including the NC TECH Exec of the Year award and multiple entrepreneurial honors.

“We are so grateful to Mark for his generosity and commitment to help establish UGA as the campus of the future,” said Terry College dean Santanu Chatterjee. “The facility is a starting point where students shape ideas and businesses, a place where we strive to serve our city better while inspiring tomorrow’s leaders.”

The mission of the UGA Entrepreneurship Program is to infuse and refine an entrepreneurial mindset in students through transformational experiences and comprehensive academic courses.
