Could Georgia’s Unused Timber Become Jet Fuel?

Delta Air Lines, alongside a coalition of Georgia agriculture and business leaders, wants to boost the state’s timber industry by turning unused wood into jet fuel.

Tim Lowrimore is the President and CEO of the Georgia Forestry Association. He says the past few years have been rough for one of Georgia’s top industries. Hurricane Helene, paper mill closures, and declining demand for paper products have hit forestry hard.

“About 8,000,000 tons of wood that was being grown in our state is no longer being utilized by facilities or mills in our State,” said Lowrimore.
