he University of Georgia celebrated the dedication and service of its staff during the annual Staff Appreciation Celebration, held May 19 at Stegeman Coliseum.

Hosted by President Jere W. Morehead, the drop-in celebration welcomed staff members from across the university for an afternoon of food, fellowship and recognition. The event offered an opportunity to pause and thank UGA’s staff for the essential role they play in supporting the university’s teaching, research, service and outreach missions.

The celebration highlighted the many ways staff contribute to the university’s continued momentum. Across every school, college and unit, staff members help enhance the student experience, support faculty and researchers, care for campus spaces, serve the public and keep daily operations moving forward.

“UGA’s staff are vital to the success of our university,” said President Jere W. Morehead. “Their dedication, professionalism and commitment to service strengthen our campus every day. I am grateful for all they do to support our students, faculty, alumni and one another, and it was a pleasure to celebrate their many contributions at this year’s Staff Appreciation Celebration.”

Attendees enjoyed lunch options from Chick-fil-A, Williamson Bros. Bar-B-Q and Chicken Salad Chick, along with music from a live DJ, photo booths and appearances from Hairy Dawg and Spike. Staff also received a token of appreciation as part of the event.

From administrative offices and research labs to classrooms, dining facilities, residence halls, libraries, health care spaces and grounds across campus, staff members help make the University of Georgia a place where people can learn, work and thrive. Their collective efforts reflect a shared commitment to the university’s mission and to one another.

The event also reflected campuswide collaboration, with support from university leaders, volunteers, campus partners and vendors who helped make the celebration possible.

“The Staff Appreciation Celebration is one meaningful way we can recognize the people who keep the University of Georgia moving forward every day,” said Dr. Juanita W. Hicks. “It was wonderful to see so many staff members come together and be celebrated for their hard work and commitment.”

University Human Resources extends its appreciation to all staff members who attended, as well as the many volunteers and campus partners who contributed to the success of the event.
