Oconee County Board of Education Holds First Budget Hearing

The Oconee County Board of Education held its first public hearing for the Fiscal Year 2027 General Fund Budget on Thursday at the Instructional Support Center.

The Board of Education unanimously adopted a tentative FY27 budget of $122,480,747 during its May 11 meeting at the Instructional Support Center. The adopted FY27 budget includes a tentative full rollback millage rate and reflects a 3.27 percent reduction from the FY26 operating budget, according to Chief Financial Officer Peter Adams.

During Thursday’s public hearing, Adams presented information regarding the tentative FY27 budget, including revenues, expenditures, employee salary improvements, state funding requirements, and other considerations.

A second public hearing for the FY27 General Fund Budget is scheduled for May 28 at 4 p.m. at the Instructional Support Center. Final budget adoption and tentative millage rate adoption are scheduled for June 15.
