Adam Fouche has been named associate vice president for environmental safety, risk and resiliency at the University of Georgia. He has served in the role on an interim basis since July 2025.
“Adam brings a unique combination of operational expertise, calm leadership and deep institutional knowledge to this role,” said Ryan Nesbit, vice president for finance and administration. “Over the past year, he has helped guide several critical areas of the university’s safety, preparedness and resiliency efforts while building strong partnerships across campus and beyond. I am confident his leadership will continue strengthening the university’s ability to prepare for, respond to and navigate complex challenges.”
As associate vice president, Fouche will lead the university’s Risk and Resiliency Division, which includes the Environmental Safety Division, Fire and Life Safety and the offices of Emergency Preparedness and Insurance and Claims Management. In this role, he will oversee initiatives focused on campus safety, environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, risk management and strengthening the university’s long-term resiliency and operational continuity.
“Throughout the search process, Adam distinguished himself through his thoughtful leadership, operational expertise and strong relationships across the university community,” Nesbit said. “I also want to thank the search committee, chaired by James Shore, senior associate vice president for finance and administration and budget director, and the many campus partners who participated in this process and shared thoughtful feedback throughout the search.”
Since stepping into the interim position, Fouche has coordinated the university’s response to two snow and ice storms in January 2026 and partnered with the UGA Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems to examine campus flood mitigation strategies. He has also advised senior leadership on emergency management, environmental safety and risk-related issues affecting the university community.
Prior to serving as interim associate vice president, Fouche was executive director of OEP and ICM, where he led UGA’s comprehensive emergency management program and directed enterprise insurance and claims operations for more than $5.5 billion in institutional assets.
During his tenure as executive director, Fouche partnered with campus stakeholders to develop a University Assistance Center plan designed to support students, faculty and staff. He coordinated statewide institutional recovery efforts related to Hurricane Helene and a January 2023 tornado outbreak, helping secure nearly $500,000 in Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursements for uninsured losses. He also facilitated the establishment of a workers’ compensation coordinator position and led the transition of the workers’ compensation claims process from University Human Resources to ICM.
Before joining OEP and ICM, Fouche served nearly 20 years with the University of Georgia Police Department, most recently as deputy chief, where he helped oversee emergency response and major event operations across campus.
Fouche holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and a Master of Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University.
