The Oconee County Board of Education approved Callen Moore as the district’s new Executive Director of Communications during Monday’s regular session at the Instructional Support Center.

“With her expertise in strategic communication and brand development, Mrs. Moore is the right person to help tell the Oconee County Schools story,” said Superintendent Dr. Melissa Butler. “Every school, every classroom, and every person in our district has a story worth telling, and I am confident she will help us highlight the great things happening across OCS, celebrate the people who make this district so special, and strengthen our connection with our community.”

Mrs. Moore currently serves as the Public Relations Officer for Foothills Regional High School as the organization’s first full-time communications professional. She is the primary system spokesperson and advisor to the executive leadership team while overseeing systemwide communication plans, website redesign projects, and Title I family engagement coordination.

Mrs. Moore served for nearly eight years as the Director of Communications for the Walton County School District. She was the district’s strategic communicator and webmaster for a site with more than 1,200 active pages while providing social media support for 30 individual school accounts. She was responsible for designing all promotional materials and advertisements to foster positive stakeholder relationships and promote the district’s mission and goals.

Mrs. Moore began her career as a Public Relations Assistant with the Clarke County School District. In that role, she managed departmental budgets, oversaw media lists, and streamlined relations between the community and district leadership while coordinating major annual events like the Teacher of the Year program.

“I am excited to join Oconee County Schools and help lead the district’s communication efforts,” said Mrs. Moore. “As a member of this community, I am personally invested in the success of our schools and students. I look forward to working alongside district and school leaders to ensure our communication is clear, transparent, and strengthens relationships with families, staff, students, and the community.”
