ACCG Leadership Stays in Southwest Georgia with DeMott’s Election

Colquitt County District 3 Commissioner Marc DeMott was installed as the 2026–2027 president of the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), pledging to strengthen collaboration, advocate for local priorities and support all 159 counties across the state.
DeMott delivered his inaugural address during the ACCG Annual Conference, expressing pride in assuming the leadership role and outlining a forward-looking agenda focused on unity, policy engagement and long-term growth.
“As I walk into this new chapter, I dedicate this journey to all of you,” DeMott said. “Here’s to the future, hand in hand with love and purpose.”
He emphasized the importance of balancing the needs of both rural and urban communities, noting that sustainable growth and improved quality of life must remain a shared priority across Georgia.
DeMott also thanked his family, colleagues and county staff for their support.
Outgoing ACCG President and Dougherty County District 3 Commissioner Clinton Johnson returned to the podium after delivering his farewell remarks to formally pass the gavel, marking the transition of leadership. Johnson reflected on his tenure and expressed appreciation for the relationships built and experiences gained while serving counties across Georgia.
