Jarya Outten Named Head Coach for Athens Academy Flag Football

Athens Academy is pleased to announce that Jarya Outten has been named head coach for the girls’ flag football program, beginning in the fall of 2026.
Jarya joined the Athens Academy faculty in 2024 as a Lower and Middle School physical education teacher as well as the assistant coach for varsity and JV girls’ basketball.
"Coach Jarya Outten is a young, energetic female coach who is excited to take on the role of varsity flag football head coach for the Spartans,” according to Athletic Director Kevin Petroski. “Her positive relationships with the school's female student-athletes will hopefully attract additional interest that will continue the program's growth next year and in the future. Jarya is
looking forward to the challenge and is excited to serve as a varsity head coach at Athens Academy."
Jarya is a former Division I basketball player from Furman University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. She also has a master’s degree in communication and journalism from the University of Georgia. Prior to joining the Athens Academy faculty, Jarya worked as a videographer for Georgia Bulldogs Sports Marketing in addition to serving as a referee and coach for many years.
