A newly named online graduate program at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business is positioning professionals for leadership in an AI-shaped economy.

The online Master of Science in Business & Artificial Intelligence, known as the MS in Business and AI, builds on Terry’s highly ranked Master of Business and Technology program while sharpening its focus on artificial intelligence as a strategic business tool.

“Artificial Intelligence is transforming how organizations compete, collaborate, and create value,” said Santanu Chatterjee, Interim Dean of the Terry College of Business. “The MS in Business and AI prepares working professionals to understand these technologies and lead with insight, integrity, and purpose. Combining strategic business perspectives with hands-on AI skills and ethical awareness prepares our graduates to drive innovation in any industry they choose.”

AI is driving automation, enhancing customer engagement, informing executive strategy, and reshaping industries. The MS in Business and AI prepares professionals to responsibly implement AI, equipping students with strategic, technical, and ethical competencies to bridge emerging technologies with enterprise goals.

“The primary goal of this program has been to develop our students into leaders who can support business opportunities with technology solutions,” said Craig Piercy, director of the MS in Business and AI program. “This mission remains as we adjust to the new reality of a world with AI.”

Offered fully online, the 30-credit-hour program maintains the structure of its predecessor: 10 courses completed over two years. Students typically enroll in two courses per term for five consecutive terms, beginning in either fall or spring.

The curriculum integrates core business technology foundations with specialized AI coursework. Required courses include Foundations of Artificial Intelligence in Business, Database Management, Project and Product Management, and Server-Side and Client-Side Application Development with AI. Students also select four electives from options such as AI in Business and Society, Generative Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation Strategy, User Experience Strategy, Systems Analysis and Design, and Advanced Topics in Business and Technology.

In the program’s second year, students apply their learning in a capstone experience. These sponsored projects challenge students to design and implement AI-enabled solutions within organizational contexts, integrating data science, machine learning, and intelligent systems into business strategy.

The program is open to students from a wide range of academic backgrounds. Degrees in business or computer science are beneficial but are not required. An introductory course in Python must be completed before beginning coursework, though applicants with substantial programming experience may qualify for exemption.
