Athens Academy Senior Named STAR Student

Senior Luke Kelly has been recognized as the STAR Student for Athens Academy for the
2025-26 school year. He has selected mathematics teacher Ken Edwards as his STAR Teacher.
Luke is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Language Honor Society
as well as a National Merit Commended Student. Luke has been a member of the band all four
years of Upper School and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He participates on the
robotics team, which has advanced to the state tournament, and he is a member of the broadcast
and eSports teams. In addition to his academic and extra-curricular school activities, Luke is also a
PADI Certified Master Scuba Diver.
Luke’s STAR teacher, Ken Edwards, has taught him in Honors Geometry, AP Computer
Science, and AP Calculus BC. Mr. Edwards has been a member of the Upper School Mathematics
Department since 2020. Prior to Athens Academy, he served as a math teacher and professor while
also running his own software/computer programming company. Mr. Edwards has a bachelor’s
degree in mathematics from Mars Hill University and a master’s degree in applied mathematics
from Georgia Tech.
