Oconee County voters overwhelmingly approved the continuation of the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST VII) on Tuesday, passing the measure with 65.06 percent support and securing vital funding for future capital projects as well as the maintenance of existing facilities throughout the district.

“Oconee County has once again voiced its strong support for education by renewing the ESPLOST, and we are deeply grateful,” said Michael Ransom, Chair of the Oconee County Board of Education. “These pennies have provided our students with well-maintained classrooms, buses, technology, and extracurricular facilities that ensure our children have the very best learning environment possible to prepare them for the future. The Board of Education appreciates the community’s confidence in continuing ESPLOST and remains committed to being good stewards of these funds.”

ESPLOST VII will fund proposed capital projects in the areas of facilities, technology, and transportation. Oconee County Schools sincerely appreciates the community’s ongoing investment in its students and looks forward to building an even brighter future together.
