Reynolds WGA18 golfers have been raising funds to help fund no-cost mammograms and breast health in Greene County for many years. Kathy Hudson and Kate Mathison once again led the CIFAC (Chip in for a Cure) tournament this year and set another record. Along with their committee of Karla Valdez, Kathy Linney, Amy Hudson, Colleen Reynolds, Felicia Case and Deb Denney, this team collectively raised $99,646.75.
This year, the tournament, which takes place during October—Breast Cancer Awareness Month—topped 2024’s record of $69,795 by almost $30,000. Over the last 10 years, CIFAC and the Reynolds WGA18 have contributed almost $400,000 to advance breast health.
This year, a Pickleball Pink Smash Pickle for a Cure event raised almost $17,000 and the golf tournament raised almost $83.000. The Pink Smash for a Cure committee was led by Colleen and Rob Reynolds and Patty Dailey.
Jennifer Messer, Chief of Development for St. Mary’s Health Care System, and Dr. Kathleen Jeffery, a physician specializing in breast surgery and medical director of St. Mary’s Breast Health Center, spoke at the luncheon on Oct. 7 to 128 golfers.
“This team and community are amazing and committed to breast health in the Lake Country,” Messer said. “Plans are underway to have a mobile mammography van bring the technology directly to those who need it most and may not have transportation to get to Good Samaritan.”
This tournament was supported by not only the golfers who participated but also the Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsors.
