Sponsored by Kroger Health, Pharmtoberfest is held in recognition of American Pharmacists Month, which has as this year’s theme, “Caring for Our Communities.” Said Collin Sanders, a third-year pharmacy student from West Point, Ga., who serves as president of UGA’s APhA-ASP chapter, “This year’s theme reflects the fundamental commitment made by professional pharmacists, and that’s to care for patients equitably in their communities, regardless of where or how they practice.”

He added, “We are grateful to Kroger for their years of loyal sponsorship. They are key to making this event a reality. As a bonus, Kroger’s ‘Krojis,’ animated characters from Kroger’s ‘Fresh for Everyone’ brand campaign, will be on hand to meet and greet Pharmtoberfest participants.”

One of the largest health and wellness events offered by the College of Pharmacy, Pharmtoberfest draws large crowds of participants each year and has become one of the most popular outdoor wellness events on UGA’s south campus. “The impact of Pharmtoberfest on our university and beyond continues to expand and allows us to advocate for the communities we serve,” remarked Sanders.  “This year’s event will not disappoint, and we encourage everyone to join us on Oct. 28.”

With more than 700,000 pharmacists, technicians, and student pharmacists in the U.S., the profession provides vital services that keep communities healthy and safe. About 90% of all Americans live within five miles of a pharmacy, and in some cases, it is the only accessible form of health care available in the community.
