The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) announces the availability of approximately $1,210,965 in anticipated federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the FY27 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The funds aim to support community development activities that foster stronger and more resilient communities.

Eligible activities may include affordable housing, economic development, public services, and public facility improvements.

CDBG applications are accepted annually and awarded through a competitive process.

The CDBG funds will be available for the FY27 contracting period (July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027) for approved activities.

The RFP process is open to eligible nonprofit organizations from October 16, 2025, to November 17, 2025.
HCD will host a virtual meeting to explain how eligible nonprofit organizations may access these federal funds to support community development and housing priorities in Athens-Clarke County.
The meeting will be held online via WebEx on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Click this link to join the online meeting.
A recording of this meeting and link to the complete applications for the FY27 CDBG Program will be made available in the afternoon of October 16, 2025 via www.accgov.com/hcd. This Request for Applications requires a Notice of Intent to Apply be submitted no later than October 24, 2025 and Applications will be due no later than midnight on Monday, November 17, 2025.
