CCSD’s Class of 2025 Tops State, National Averages on SAT

Clarke County School District students once again outperformed their state and national public-school counterparts on the SAT, marking the second consecutive year that CCSD has topped the state and national averages for the evidence-based reading and writing (ERW) and math portions of the test.
The public release on Tuesday, Sept. 30, of the scores by the Georgia Department of Education and the College Board covers students from the most recent high school graduating class (2025) who took the SAT. Test-takers are counted only once, and only their latest scores are factored into the data.
As a district, CCSD’s mean score of 1048 was down slightly from 1056 for the Class of 2024 but was 19 points higher than the state average of 1029 and 52 points higher than the national average of 996. The district’s 284 test-takers had a mean ERW score of 538 and a math score of 510 – compared to the respective state averages of 526 and 502 and the respective national averages of 508 and 488.
Eighteen CCSD students scored between 1400-1600 overall (on a 1600 scale), with 35 scoring 700-800 on ERW 35 and 17 scoring 700-800 on the math portion.
Clarke Central High School (181 test takers) recorded a mean overall score of 1075, while Cedar Shoals High School (103 test takers) had a mean score of 1000.
