American Textile Company (ATC), a Pittsburgh-based manufacturer of bedding products, is commemorating its 100th year in business. The company celebrated its centennial anniversary on July 1st at its Tifton GA facility.
The event highlighted the unique achievement of not only surviving but thriving for a century. A key element of ATC's enduring success is its investment in the workforce and the communities where it operates. This commitment is exemplified by the growth of its Tifton, Georgia facility.
Commenting on the anniversary, President/CEO of the Tift County Development Authority Brian Marlowe said “Congratulations to the American Textile Company family on a tremendous accomplishment. One hundred years is a historic milestone, and we are proud to be an ongoing part of ATC’s journey. We are grateful for their partnership and commitment to our community, which continues to serve as a model for successful public-private endeavors.”
Opened in 2011, the Tifton facility has experienced substantial expansion, increasing from 200,000 to over 725,000 square feet, now employing over 435 people. This significant growth has had a substantial positive economic impact on the region, an impact that will continue for years to come.
"Today's event celebrates a journey through 100 years of innovation, resilience, and community impact," said Lance Ruttenberg, ATC's President and CEO. "It also celebrates the bright future ahead, fueled by our incredible team in Tifton and the commitment of local and state leaders to partnering and fueling our continued growth."
Founded in Pittsburgh, ATC has expanded significantly, now operating US factories in Duquesne, Pennsylvania; Tifton, Georgia; Dallas, Texas; and Salt Lake City, Utah, in addition to international operations in El Salvador and China. This remarkable century-long success is a testament to the company's dedication and adaptability within the ever-changing landscape of the textile industry. It's a milestone achieved by less than 1% of all US companies.
ATC's evolution also mirrors changes in the retail industry, transitioning from supplying hundreds of local and regional department stores to partnering with the world's largest global retailers. Today, ATC products are sold internationally, and nearly 400 million people use them nightly.
ATC's success showcases the power of long-term vision, strategic investment, and dedication to both employees and customers. For more information about American Textile Company and its 100-year legacy, please visit www.americantextile.com.
