Athens Academy is pleased to announce that four seniors have been recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as High School All-American Athletes of the Year. Congratulations to Veronika Babbitt, George McMaster, KJ Whitehead, and Jeremiah Wingfield for their hard work. According to the NSCA website, these students’ “athletic accomplishments reflect their dedication to strength training and conditioning.”

Veronika Babbitt was named one of 22 All-American Athletes of the Year for Track and Field. She has competed with the track and field team all four years of Upper School at Athens Academy in both shot put and discus. Veronika will be attending Stanford University this fall where she will continue her athletic career on the Stanford track and field team.

George McMaster was recognized as one of six All-American Athletes of the Year for Powerlifting. He is a competitive powerlifter and competes all over the country, including in the USA Powerlifting High School Nationals in Appleton, Wisconsin, this spring. Georgia competed in the categories of Squat, Bench, and Deadlift. He will be attending Florida State University this fall. KJ Whitehead was named one of 46 Multi-Sport All-American Athletes of the Year as a member of the Athens Academy basketball, football, and track and field teams. He will play football this fall for Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Jeremiah Wingfield was recognized as one of 26 All-American Athletes of the Year for Football. He played football all four years at Athens Academy as a running back and linebacker and on special teams. Jeremiah will continue his football career in the United States Naval Academy.
