Oconee Earns Top County Rating from Niche Again

Oconee County once again has the No. 1 county school system in Georgia, according to Niche’s 2025 Best Schools and Districts rankings. Oconee County has held the No. 1 spot among county districts for six straight years and 11 years overall.

“We are incredibly proud to be named the No. 1 county school district once again,” Superintendent Jason Branch said. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, leaders, and the entire OCS community.”

Niche placed five schools from Oconee County in the Top 20 in their respective divisions: No. 5 Malcom Bridge Elementary, No. 10 Oconee County Middle, No. 13 Malcom Bridge Middle, No. 16 North Oconee High, and No. 18 Rocky Branch Elementary.

Oconee County received an overall A+ rating from Niche. Oconee County earned the site’s top marks for academics, teachers, college prep, clubs and activities, and administration.
