he 15th annual AthHalf Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, November 3rd, unfortunately that’s the same weekend as the Georgia-Florida game. As a result, organizers say they still need volunteers for the race and the 5K on Saturday, November 2nd. Carole Black is the race director for AthHalf.

“Our volunteers are down there rooting for Georgia and the Bulldogs, go Dawgs,” Black said. “So anyone that is staying behind in Athens and would like to come and volunteer on either Saturday or Sunday, we would love to have you. And to find information about that, you want to go to AthHalf.com.”

She says this year long-time runners will be recognized.

“We are very excited about it happening this year, and we are celebrating our legacy runners. That means these are runners that have run the race all 15 years.”

AthHalf is produced each year by the nonprofit AthFest Educates and proceeds from the event support its mission of funding music and arts education for local youth.

“Over the history of the organization, we’ve given away $685,000 in grants.”

Three thousand runners are expected for this year’s AthHalf Half Marathon and 550 for the 5K.
