Spartan Investment Group (Spartan), a Colorado-based privately held real estate investment firm specializing in the self-storage industry, is excited to announce the acquisition of a new state-of-the-art self-storage facility in Athens, Georgia. The new facility marks Spartan's 19th project in the state, reinforcing its significant presence in the Southeast region.

“Athens is experiencing unprecedented growth in its population and economic landscape. With the University of Georgia as a central anchor and new industries establishing roots here, the need for reliable and accessible self-storage solutions has never been greater," said Ryan Gibson, president and CIO at Spartan. "Ideally situated in this thriving market, this new facility will extend our expansive network of properties across the state — allowing Spartan to leverage its existing market expertise to lease up the facility and deliver value to our investors.”

Located at 775 Athena Drive, just 10 minutes from the University of Georgia, this brand-new Class A facility was constructed in 2024. With 101,225 square feet of net rentable space, the facility has 1,075 storage units and features both climate-controlled and drive-up options — providing a variety of storage solutions for the local community.

Over the last several years, Spartan has expanded its portfolio of self-storage facilities across the country, with Georgia as its second-largest footprint. Spartan's existing operations in the state include FreeUp Storage Murrayville to the west, four Macon properties to the south, and more. In addition, Spartan has expanded their footprint to Beaufort, South Carolina.
