The Madison Athens-Clarke Oconee Regional Transportation Study (MACORTS) has prepared the Draft 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan. This long range transportation plan assesses the existing transportation network, updates goals, objectives, and transportation priorities for the region, while integrating community input. This update will result in both a prioritized, cost-constrained list of projects that will be implemented over the next 20 years, as well as an updated Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP).

MACORTS will host an open-house style meeting on Tuesday, August 20 from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Athens-Clarke County Planning Department located at 120 W. Dougherty Street. Residents are invited to stop by, learn more about the prioritized projects and updated transportation plan, and provide feedback. Additional meetings will be held on the same day in Madison County (1:00-3:00 PM) and Oconee County (5:00-7:00 PM).

All meeting materials will be also accessible online through the project webpage at www.macorts.org. Residents can access draft documents and provide comments during the 30-day public comment period from August 14 through September 13, 2024. The planning process will extend through the fall, and final adoption of the plan is anticipated by October 7, 2024.
