Oconee Martial Arts School Wins Nine Medals at National Taekwondo Championship

Live Oak Martial Arts, a premier martial arts school in Oconee, Georgia, is proud to announce a dominating performance at the 2024 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Taekwondo National Championship held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The talented team of four competitors brought home nine remarkable medals, showcasing their exceptional skills and dedication to the sport.
“This was a Triumphant return for our school to National competition, our last one being in 2017. It was a self-imposed challenge to heal up, study up, practice up, and show up. Our team showed poise and class on the mat and off it,” said Master Jason Hughes, owner and head instructor at Live Oak Martial Arts.
The Live Oak Martial Arts team secured a diverse range of medals, including 3 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze.
Master Hughes won Gold in Traditional ITF Forms, Gold in Open Forms, and Silver in Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Traditional Forms.
Lucy Ralston won Gold in Traditional ITF Forms, and Silver in the Open Forms division.
In his first-ever National competition, Thomas Murphy won Silver in Traditional ITF Forms and Bronze in Open Forms.
Finally, in only her 2nd tournament ever, Emiliana Korin won Silver in Olympic Sparring and Bronze in Traditional ITF Forms.
The AAU Taekwondo National Championships are a prestigious event that attracts talented athletes from across the country and even some teams from Canada, Mexico, and Peru.
