Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, May 16th, 2024

St. Mary’s next Coffee & Conversation breakfast program will be “Surviving Stroke,” presented by Dr. Feroze Afzal, Dr. Kyle Townsend and Dr. Neil Woodall of St. Mary’s Georgia Neurological Surgery & Comprehensive Spine.

The program will be held Wednesday, May 22, at 7:45 a.m. in the Assembly Rooms at St. Mary’s Hospital, 1230 Baxter St., Athens, Ga. The physicians will discuss the topic: “A decade of mechanical thrombectomy for stroke: Where have we been and where do we go from here?” They will focus on how changes in technology over 10 years of mechanical thrombectomy have helped increase the number of patients who can safely undergo surgery for stroke. They will also examine how stroke teams can continue to help more patients in the next decade.

The program is free and primarily geared to professionals, but everyone is welcome. Breakfast is provided by Chick-fil-A of Athens. Registration is required at https://forms.office.com/r/HKGiAS012K to help with planning. We hope you will join us!
