The Board of Education unanimously approved Anne Poss as the next principal of Oconee County Middle School during its work session on Monday.

Currently serving as an assistant principal for OCMS, she will succeed Matt Stephens, who was chosen last month as the next principal of Oconee County High School.

“We are pleased to name Ms. Anne Poss as the next principal of Oconee Middle School,” Superintendent Jason Branch said.  “With nearly two decades of experience as both an administrator and teacher, she brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication to each day.  We look forward to her continued leadership in assisting students and staff at OCMS to connect, impact, and serve our community.”

Ms. Poss served as an assistant principal of instruction and math teacher at Madison County High School from 2016-2023 and was a math teacher and math instructional coach for Elbert County middle and high schools from 2007-2016. She holds a Specialist’s in Educational Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia.

“I am honored and humbled for the opportunity to lead Oconee County Middle School,” Poss said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at OCMS getting to know and working with the students, staff, and community. This really is a special school. Mr. Stephens is leaving OCMS in a fantastic position. I am dedicated to guiding OCMS to reach its fullest potential.”
