Residents Sought for Positions on Seven Policy-Making Boards by April 5

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following terms on seven important policy-making boards:

Two positions on the Airport Authority for terms of four years.*

Two positions on the Classic Center Authority for terms of four years.*

Two positions on the Hearings Board for terms of four years.

Three positions on the Historic Preservation Commission for terms of three years.*

Nine positions on the Human Relations Commission. Seven positions are for four-year terms, and two are for partial terms expiring April 30, 2026.*

Three positions on the Joint Development Authority of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County and the City of Winterville. Two positions are for two-year terms and one position is for a four-year term.*

Three positions on the Planning Commission. Two positions are for five-year terms and one position is for a partial term expiring June 30, 2025.*

Applicants for any board, authority, or commission positions must be Athens-Clarke County residents. More detailed information about each board, authority, or commission is available online at www.accgov.com/boards.
Applications can be filled out online at www.accgov.com/boards or obtained from the Clerk of Commission's Office in Room 204 of City Hall, 301 College Avenue. The deadline for receiving applications is Friday, April 5. A separate application must be completed for each position.
The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to interview applicants for the Classic Center Authority and the Planning Commission beginning at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, April 23 and is tentatively scheduled to interview applicants for the Airport Authority, Hearings Board, Historic Preservation, Human Relations Commission, and Joint Development Authority beginning at 5:00 PM on Thursday, April 25. These will be the only dates for interviews. Applicants who are selected for an interview will receive a notification of their interview time.
The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to make appointments at the Regular Session meeting on Tuesday, May 7.
