Athens Unemployment Rate Inches Up Slightly in January

The labor force increased in Athens by 639 and ended the month with 103,688. That number went up by 5,104 when compared to January of 2023.
Athens finished the month with 100,473 employed residents. That number increased by 279 over-the-month and rose by 5,168 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Athens ended January with 103,800 jobs. That number decreased by 1,400 from December to January and rose by 5,100 when compared to this time last year.
In January, initial unemployment claims decreased by 127 (-31%) in Athens. When you compare January 2024 claims to January 2023, claims were up by 17 (6%).
