Scams Using Municipal Court Caller ID

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, February 27th, 2024

Municipal Court has received information that scammers have spoofed their caller IDs in an attempt to identify themselves as calling from ACCGov Municipal Court and asking residents to obtain cash or cards in order to pay off their cases. Marcy Jolles, Municipal Court Judge, reminds residents that Municipal Court will never call residents asking them to obtain money or cards related to their cases.

All financial transactions related to Municipal Court cases would take place in the office in the Courthouse or online through accgov.com and the Ncourt system based on posted fines or courtroom judgments. Residents are never called by Municipal Court staff to discuss payments over the phone. Residents who have been victims or fraudulent activity or scams can contact the Athens-Clarke County Police Department at 706-613-3330.
