Athens Academy Faculty Member Recognized for 25 Years of Service

Athens Academy faculty member Melanie Hollis has been recognized by the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) for her outstanding work in independent schools. She recently received the Distinguished Service Award for having dedicated 25 years of service to independent education.

Mrs. Hollis, who is a lead teacher in the Pre-First (kindergarten) program at Athens Academy, first joined the faculty in 1995. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in education, Mrs. Hollis taught in the public school systems for two years. She left Athens Academy briefly to raise her daughters Lili (Class of 2017) and Anna (Class of 2020), during which time she taught at Athens First United Methodist Church Preschool and Athens First Presbyterian Church Preschool. She returned to the Athens Academy Preschool in 2006.
