CCSD Wellness Collaborative Monthly Focus: Finances
Wednesday, September 6th, 2023
This month, the Clarke County School District is formally launching the CCSD Wellness Collaborative as we come together to focus on holistic wellness for everyone — students, staff, families, and our wider community. We invite everyone to join us each month as we explore a different wellness focus and share your ideas to collaborate on our wellness journey! Be on the lookout for additional information.
In September, we are focusing on financial wellness by hosting our first program to enhance financial literacy around local housing access and advocacy. CCSD and Envision Athens will host a Tenant Rights Information Session from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, in the Vernon Payne Meeting Hall at the District Office, 595 Prince Ave. All are welcome to attend, though an RSVP is encouraged. Click here or scan the QR code on the flyer below to RSVP. We look forward to seeing you there!
A bit more on Financial Wellness from Our CCSD Wellness Collaborative
Financial wellness goes beyond managing money. It's a journey of cultivating good financial habits, setting goals, and enhancing quality of life, as highlighted by Forbes,
However, financial wellness isn't solely about individual habits; it's about equitable access. Harvard Business Review reports that a significant portion of working Americans struggle month-to-month.
To truly achieve financial wellness, we must address inequities and promote financial literacy in our communities. This journey has a two-way reward: as financial wellness improves, so does overall well-being.
September’s focus and our inaugural program tackles this by promoting financial literacy and advocating for fair housing access. Housing costs dominate budgets, and understanding this landscape is more crucial than ever.
In summary, financial wellness encompasses more than personal finance — it's about access, equity, and knowledge. By recognizing this, we empower communities for a brighter future.
