Clarke County School District is Partnering with The Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement

Staff Report

The Clarke County School District is partnering with The Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement (GLISI) to support the development of a new five-year strategic plan for the district and its schools. This critical work begins with hearing from the community to understand its vision for the future of the school district.

To that end, the district has announced four public listening sessions in April, facilitated by GLISI representatives, that will be aimed at exploring the community’s shared aspirations for CCSD and its students. The schedule is as follows:

  • 4-5 p.m. Sunday, April 16 - Tuckston United Methodist Church, 4175 Lexington Rd., Athens
  • 6-7 p.m. Monday, April 17 - Clarke Central High School media center, 350 South Milledge Ave., Athens
  • 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18 - Cedar Shoals High School cafeteria, 1300 Cedar Shoals Dr., Athens
  • 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 — Athens-Clarke County Library, 2025 Baxter St., Athens.

Following these public sessions, the input gathered will be used to craft the foundations of the next Strategic Plan — including the district’s mission, vision, and core beliefs, on which the community will again be invited to share its feedback. Following the “action planning” phase, which will include development of measures, objectives, and action steps that will make up the Strategic Plan, recommendations for the district’s 2023-2028 strategic goals and priorities will be shared with the Board of Education for adoption later this year. A special-dedicated website for information and updates on the strategic planning process will be announced at a later date and will be accessible from the main CCSD website at www.clarke.k12.ga.us

CCSD looks forward to hearing from all stakeholders in the community.
