Eight Athens Academy students are participating in the Athens-Clarke County Youth Leadership Athens (YLA) program. Sophomores Ansley Davis, Wats Dorris, Brooke Farmer, Jack Hardin, Jane Frierson, Reese Jarrard, Read Johnson, and Rachel Wicker were selected to participate in the program, which will hold its graduation ceremony on Sunday, March 26, 2023.

YLA is a premiere leadership program for Athens-area sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Class members build leadership skills, an understanding of the Athens area, and a connection with others in the community. Students attend monthly meetings and participate in a broad range of activities including volunteering, learning about local businesses, and even spending a day learning all about the operations of local government.
