Athens Academy Alumni Participate in Career Panel

Four Athens Academy alumni returned to campus on Thursday, January 5, 2023, to participate in an Alumni Career Panel. Dr. Sunil Alexander '90, Laura Allen '99, Ed Ferguson '89, and Mary Matthews Russell '11 spoke about their experiences in college and in developing their careers, and how their time at Athens Academy prepared them. They all shared great advice with our Upper School students, including to be kind to everyone, to cultivate a variety of interests, and to follow their passion when making choices about work and career. The event was moderated by Athens Academy football coach Josh Alexander.

Sunil Alexander, M.D., currently practices obstetrics and gynecology with Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. He has an undergraduate degree from Duke University and he received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Alexander is the parent of two Athens Academy students.

Laura Allen is the senior divisional philanthropy officer for the American Red Cross. She received her bachelor's degree and her MBA from the University of Georgia. Ms. Allen is the parent of one Athens Academy student.

Ed Ferguson is the managing director for investments with Stifel, a diversified global wealth management and investment banking company. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia's Terry School of Business. Mr. Ferguson is the parent of three Athens Academy alumni.

Mary Matthews Russell is an associate attorney with the law firm Blasingame, Burch, Garrard and Ashley. She received her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia.
