Sponsorships and Project Sites Sought for Athens’ 2023 MLK Day of Service
Thursday, October 20th, 2022
Each year, people across the United States come together on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday to observe the only federal holiday that is designated as a National Day of Service. 2023 marks the 21st year of the MLK Day of Service in Athens. Each year, hundreds of volunteers make Martin Luther King, Jr. Day “A Day On and Not a Day Off” at a variety of community project sites. This year, the Athens MLK Day of Service Steering Committee is looking for project sites as well as local funds to make those projects more meaningful and sustainable.
Financial and in-kind sponsors are needed to help make this large community event a success. Four sponsorship levels are available (cash or materials equivalent): Advocate: ($500+ Non-profit/individual or $1,250+ Corporate), Compassion: ($350-$499 Non-profit/individual or $500 - $1,249 Corporate), Vision: ($200-$349 Non-profit/individual or $200-$499 Corporate), and Inspiration: ($100-$199 Non-profit/individual or Corporate). Monies will go toward project materials such as mulch, paint, and/or tools, as well as t-shirts and breakfast for volunteers. Sponsorship forms and complete descriptions of sponsorship levels are available at www.accgov.com/mlkday.
Local organizations that would like to be considered as a 2023 MLK Day of Service volunteer project site are encouraged to submit an application.
