Wire Park Announces Trio of New Tenants
Tuesday, September 20th, 2022
Gibbs Capital is pleased to announce a trio of new tenants joining the mix at Wire Park, headlined by the expansion into the Athens market of a well-known Metro Atlanta coffee company. Apotheos Roastery, Best Level Basketball and Mackay Dental Associates are the latest to commit to being a part of the diverse mixture of businesses and organizations that comprise Oconee County’s first mixed-use development.
Located in Kennesaw, Ga., Apotheos Roastery’s name comes from the Greek word “apotheosis” which translates into elevating something to its best form. The company relies on that commitment to excellence to guide its approach to roasting coffee beans and preparing its signature line of cold-brew coffee.
Apotheos has deep ties to the Athens community as a University of Georgia alumni-owned business, and it also is an active member of the Classic City Collective which supports student-athletes at UGA.
“Wire Park’s desire to create a gathering place for the community of Watkinsville immediately appealed to us,” said Dale Hughes, the CEO and owner of Apotheos. “As a UGA alumni-owned business, we are excited to play a part in serving this great community. We look forward to sharing a nice cup of coffee and sharing many moments of goodness within the Wire Park community.”
Best Level Basketball will offer a comprehensive training approach to preparing young people for life on the court and off. Founded by J.D. Powell, a former assistant coach for Georgia’s men’s basketball team, it aims to take fundamental skills and break them down to easy-to-understand concepts in a fun and encouraging environment.
Mackay Dental Associates is a full-service dental practice that will serve the Athens area. Led by Dr. Elisse Mackay, it will blend a high-touch, patient-first approach with cutting-edge technology to deliver unrivaled service.
In addition to this newly announced crop of tenants, several businesses are close to opening their doors to the public at Wire Park. South Main Brewing, the first craft brewery in Oconee County, will open in early October, while Athens Running Company, Bird Dog Boutique and Sugar Polish Nail Bar will open in early November.
Wire Park sits on 66 acres in Oconee County, home to Georgia’s number one ranked school system and the second-best county for families in America, according to Niche. After more than 50 years as a wire manufacturing plant, the aptly named $80 million mixed-use development will feature 130 residential units, expansive greenspace and 225,000 square feet of commercial, office and retail space including the region’s first food hall in The Grid, the relocated Oconee County Library, and The Yard at Wire Park, a 28,710 square foot indoor baseball training facility.
