Neurologist Dr. Cristina Schreckinger has joined Dr. Angela McSwain and Dr. Robert Steadham at St. Mary’s Neurological Specialists.

Dr. Schreckinger comes to the practice from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where she has been since 2017 while serving her internal medicine internship, neurology residency, and an epilepsy fellowship. She served as Chief Resident of Mount Sinai Beth Israel West in 2020-2021 and was Grand Rounds co-chief of Mount Sinai Health System Neurology in 2019-2020.

At St. Mary’s Neurological Specialists, Dr. Schreckinger provides general neurology outpatient care for patients of all ages, with a special interest in epilepsy.

Prior to her service at Mount Sinai, she earned her master’s degree in public health from the University of New England in Portland, Maine; her medical degree from Universidad Internacional del Ecuador in Quito; and was a liberal arts student at Davidson College in North Carolina. From 2008-2011 she served as local university president, national vice president, and national president of the International Federation of Medical Students Association.

During her medical education in Latin America, Dr. Schreckinger was involved in a wide range of specialties and faculty-supervised patient care, including neurology, pediatric neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology, emergency medicine, internal medicine and surgery.

Dr. Schreckinger is married to Dr. Jorge Chancay, a nephrologist with Georgia Renal Associates. They are expecting their first child late this fall.
