The Lyndon House Arts Center announces the opening of the Summer Exhibition line up to go on view June 18 with an artist reception and celebration on June 23 from 6 – 8 pm.

In the Atrium Galleries, the third in a series of triennial traveling exhibitions organized by the Lyndon House Arts Center and the Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia, “Picture This” selects the work of 11 Georgia-based painters who focus on narratives.

Curated by Didi Dunphy, Lyndon House Arts Center’s Supervisor, the Highlighting Contemporary Art in Georgia series began in 2016, with “Pushing the Press: Printmaking in the South” and continued in 2019 with “Cut and Paste: Works of Paper.” Each exhibition is made available at minimal cost to interested venues in metropolitan areas big and small across the state. “Picture This” will travel for 24 months throughout Georgia.

Opening in the South Gallery, Maps, Landforms and River Rafts, is an exhibit by Cathy Fussell and Coulter Fussell.  The Maps and Landforms series of art quilts by Cathy Fussell are on view alongside her daughter Coulter’s River Raft series. The mother and daughter share inspiration and a dedication to craft and detail in their work.

Robert Croker at Random 2022 features works on paper by Robert Croker. This new suite of watercolors will fill the West Gallery in a stacked installation.  Monumental yet meditative, the exhibit will be an immersive viewing experience.

In the Atrium cases, Athens-based artist Jason Matherly will install a number of color-block shaped works against a painted ground.  For Heather: New Shaped Paintings features forms that investigate geometry and color.

All exhibitions are free of charge and open to the public.  Exhibitions are on view during regular gallery hours Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
