ACCPD Introduces Online Citizen Reporting System

Staff Report

Athens-Clarke County citizens can now submit certain types of incident reports from any internet-enabled computer or mobile device through a new webbased reporting system. The Desktop Officer Reporting System (DORS) allows the ACCPD to allocate resources more efficiently while providing citizens an easy and convenient website to report certain incidents as well as alarm registrations and house checks.

Individuals who are having an emergency or who know the suspect involved in the crime should contact 9-1-1. Citizens that would like to personally speak with an officer about an incident can still do so by calling our Communications Center (9-1-1.) In addition to the online form, a web-based kiosk is located in the East Precinct lobby.

The web-based version of DORS is a secure reporting system available 24 hours a day. The user interface is easy to navigate, and the website explains the process of submitting a report. Reports entered into DORS are automatically transferred to ACCPD’s records management software. Incident reports can be printed at the citizen’s home without charge.

DORS allows members of the community to request house checks, register an alarm system and submit reports for crimes including Criminal TrespassProperty, Criminal Trespass-Vehicle, Entering Auto, Harassment, Identify Fraud, Lost Property, Private Property Accident Report, Theft by Taking, and Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property.

“Our 9-1-1 operators receive a number of calls in these nine crime categories and we feel that DORS will allow our communication officers, as well as records unit employees, to focus on the most pressing needs of the community,” says Keith Kelley, Captain of Communications and Technology. The website is located at https://www.accgov.com/8737/Online-Reporting and will be included in a future update of the ACCPD smartphone app, available for IOS and Android. The free-standing kiosk is available in the East Precinct lobby Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

For further information about DORS or the kiosk, please contact Sgt. Jimmy Carter at 706-613-3338, ext. 287. The ACCPD smartphone app is available for download at the Apple App Store and Google Play.
