President Andrea Daniel has named three individuals for leadership positions in academic affairs at Athens Technical College.

“I am very pleased to have these new employees on board to provide outstanding leadership to our faculty and students,” said Daniel. “They all have a strong academic background and passion for education. I look forward to working with them to build on our strong academic programs and student placement in the workforce.”

Kristen H. Douglas has been named vice president for academic affairs (VPAA) and chief academic officer effective Feb. 15. She has served as VPAA at West Georgia Technical College since 2016, where she spent nearly two dozen years total in a variety of roles including vice president of institutional effectiveness for six years. Douglas has been a SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison and Peer Evaluator, Board Member for the Southern Association of Community College Research and held numerous other roles supporting her community and her passion for education.

Douglas holds a Doctor of Education in Adult Education, Master of Education in Adult Education, and Bachelor of Arts in Journalism all from the University of Georgia.

The VPAA is responsible for the college’s faculty, curriculum, student learning outcomes, libraries, classroom and lab use, and also oversees operations for the satellite campuses in Elbert, Greene and Walton counties.

Her appointment follows the retirement of Glenn Henry on Jan. 31, who served as the VPAA for nearly three years. Prior to that, Henry served as dean of the Life Sciences and Public Safety Division, program chair for emergency medical services (EMS), and adjunct instructor totaling over 30 years of service to the college.

Christina Wolfe took the helm as dean of the Business, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing Division on Jan. 18. She will oversee two dozen programs including accounting, air conditioning technology, applied technical management, automotive, commercial truck driving, criminal justice, cosmetology, culinary arts, diesel equipment technology, drafting, early childhood education, electrical systems, emerging technologies, engineering, hotel restaurant and tourism management, industrial systems technology, interior design, marketing, networking, paralegal, precision machining, social work assistant and welding.

Wolfe comes to Athens Technical College from Georgia Highlands College where she served as the division chair for the School of Social Sciences and Education since 2019 and the Honors Program Director from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, she served as an assistant professor of sociology and human services at Georgia Highlands College and adjunct instructor at West Georgia Technical College.

Wolfe received two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and French from Louisiana State University and a dual Masters of Arts in Sociology and Demography from Pennsylvania State University. She also completed graduate coursework at University of West Georgia. She plans to complete her Ph.D. in Workforce Education at the University of Georgia this summer.

Shawana Stanford has been promoted to dean of the General Education and Online Learning Division effective Feb. 1. She will also oversee the consumer economics and dual enrollment programs.

Stanford began her career at the college in 1999 working in financial aid. In 2000, she began teaching English as an adjunct instructor. Seven years later she was hired as a full-time instructor and has taught English and humanities classes, dual enrollment classes, and developed online courses. During her time at ATC, she has worked closely with adjunct faculty from a wide variety of subject areas. 

Stanford holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Emmanuel College and a Master of Liberal Studies with an English concentration from Fort Hays State University.
