Jefferson is Georgia's Best City to Earn Money While Sleeping

Homeowners in Jefferson, GA have made the most money in their sleep over the past 20 years, new research has revealed. 

The study by sleep experts Amerisleep found that Jefferson, GA has had the highest average nightly price growth in the state, with a $4.61 increase in average house prices while people are sleeping, adding up to $33,653 between 2000 and 2020. 

The study analyzed Zillow’s Home Value Index for house prices in cities and towns across Georgia for the past 20 years, and then found which cities had the highest price change per hour to reveal the areas with the highest price increase while residents were sleeping.

Jefferson topped the list after its average house price increased from $128,695 in 2000, to $244,190 in 2020, which equates to an average increase of $0.66 per hour. With the average American sleeping around seven hours each night, the result is that homeowners in the Georgia city have made $4.61 each night, just while sleeping.

Gainesville, GA was second on the list with a house price change per hour of $0.55, resulting in an average nightly house price increase of $3.84, equivalent to $28,032 over the past 20 years.

Athens, GA has the third highest price change per hour of $0.54, which totals an increase of $27,740 during sleeping hours since 2000, based on an average overnight house price increase of $3.80. 

Atlanta, GA is fourth place, with a house price change per hour of $0.54, resulting in an overnight house price change of $3.77, equivalent to $1,376 a year, and $27,521 over 20 years.

Savannah, GA comes in at fifth place, with a house price change per hour of $0.48, meaning it has an overnight house price change of $3.38.

Georgia’s average house price increased by $90,176 between 2000 and 2020. The state as a whole averaged $2.02 increase in house prices every night, earning Georgia homeowners $14,746 during typical sleep time between 2000 and 2020.
