Three Athens-area Barberitos, a fast-casual Southwestern Grille and Cantina with more than 50 locations across the Southeast, are “Chipping in for a Cure” by hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Percentage Day. The Barberitos locations will be donating 10 percent of sales on Wednesday, Oct. 13, to the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support. This is the fifth year the local Athens Barberitos has donated funds to the foundation. 

Participating Athens locations include:

• Prince: 1180 Prince Ave

• Five Points:  1739 S. Lumpkin Street

• Eastside: 1860 Barnett Shoals Road

Pink chips will also be served to all guests, and customers will have the option to add a monetary donation to the charity on their receipt.

The Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support recognizes the need to support and treat patients and their families – not just the disease. Because cancer treatment involves more than medical care, free services and programs such as yoga, tai chi, nutrition classes, expressive art classes, complementary therapies, and counseling are also available to anyone affected by cancer, regardless of whether or not they are a Piedmont patient.

As a southwestern grille and cantina, Barberitos is dedicated to serving farm-fresh, high-quality food in an efficient manner. All of the restaurants’ menu items are made in-house daily, including hand-smashed guacamole, homemade salsas, fresh-cut vegetables, as well as chicken, steak, turkey, tofu, fish, rice and beans.
